Get to know your student’s friends and the wonderful group of parents and guardians who support them. There are opportunities to fit any interests and schedule.

Join STaGe (Supporters of Theatre at Garfield)
STaGe is the Garfield Theatre booster group, run by parent volunteers. Many of our STaGe leadership have students graduating in 2024, so we're counting on parents of 9th through 11th graders to raise their hands in March 2024 to volunteer and learn from the current parents before they depart.
Support During a production
Snacks
Provide healthy after-school snacks for Tech Mondays and for Tech Week and rehearsals leading up to opening night. STaGe asks families to contribute $10-$40 to a snack fund to keep basics on hand, and we rely on volunteers to provide hot food a few times a week. Here’s a list of Snack Suggestions.
Box Office
We’ll train you on the box office software to sell tickets and answer questions.
Concessions
You can bake or purchase items for our concessions table: Brownies, cookies, Rice Krispie treats, chips, and flavored seltzers are always popular! We also need folks to come before the show to get the concessions table ready, and to staff it before the show and at intermission.
We’ll send out links to a Signup Genius for all of these jobs before each show.
Sets & Costumes
We sometimes need volunteers to help with set construction, painting, costume inventory, etc. We’ll send email and post announcements on Facebook.
Other Ways to Help with productions:
- Procure props for shows
- Maintain social media / Facebook accounts
- Order & sell T-shirts & merchandise
- Create publicity materials & contact media
- Sell ad space in the Playbill to local businesses and parents of seniors who want to honor their graduate
- Photograph or video dress rehearsals, performances, and the Thespian Awards banquet

Chaperone the Annual Field Trip
Parent and Guardians who chaperone the three-day Washington State Thespian Festival help make it a highlight for students, and we have a great time too! STAGE works to keep costs low, and provides funding as needed so all students can go.
To be a chaperone, you must complete the Seattle Public Schools’ volunteer process. Please email info@garfieldstage.org if you have any questions!
